The Dilemma of the Nonprofit World

ICS believes in empowering nonprofits in the areas of funding, and attracting and retaining the best executives through innovative benefits. By achieving this, the nonprofit will dramatically increase the impact it has on the community. We believe that when nonprofits realize they have control of their financial futures without being entirely dependent upon "...the kindness of strangers", they will be much bolder and broader in their goals, in their achievements, and in their dreams.

Every year, nonprofits have to guess what they will receive in funding (e.g., grants, gifts and donations) and fees. Budgets are too often simply reflections of the previous year; and it's difficult to expand missions and services with the expectation of the same dollars coming in. Instead of embracing expansion, as the for-profit world does, the nonprofits term it "mission creep". Expansion is viewed negatively as it translates into funding which the nonprofit typically cannot afford. Without funding, the needs of the community go unmet and unfulfilled.

Furthermore, in recent years, many nonprofits have simply ceased to exist due to the elimination of grants and decreases in donations; very often with little warning. These were good, solid, mission based organizations which provided needed services. In many cases, these services are no longer being provided to people in need.

In my conversations, many people have asked me why I am so committed to the nonprofit world. My answer to the question is, "To empower the nonprofit to take control over its financial future by tremendously increasing its funding." That is the "WHY" as I see it. It goes beyond pleasure, it exceeds passion, and requires by necessity a sense of purpose. If you have this, and you believe as I do that nonprofits have the ability to change world for the better, then together we have everything we need to succeed.
